Seegene : Allplex 2019-nCOV Assay (PCR)
Seegene. Seegene is a company that produces more than 160 types of assays for various diseases.
Seegene used its supercomputer artificial intelligence data system to develop a test in only weeks. As a result, Seegene’s Allplex 2019-nCOV Assay was ready on February 5th and received its approval on February 12th.
The company states that it is the only detection kit currently available to detect the E gene, RdRP gene, and N gene, the current three COVID-19 target genes.
Also, the kit is capable of performing 1,000 tests simultaneously and delivering the diagnosis results in less than four hours. Seegene has auto-analysis software to provide the test results.
Specifically, rather than a human mixing the solutions, the collected samples are put into a diagnostic machine, where a robot arm mixes the liquids on a number of tests at once. This is faster than the manual method and reduces the risk of human error or contamination.
Seegene is now focusing on producing only COVID-19 detection kits and can test 250,000 – 500,000 patients per week (each kit can test 100 patients).
The company has been exporting COVID-19 assays since February and currently facing orders from more than 30 countries. Figure 1 is the image of Seegene’s Allplex 2019-nCOV Assay.
